Messums London would like to invite emerging contemporary painters to participate in a group exhibition that considers the individual and collective response to environment as represented in landscape painting today. The exhibition wishes to explore through painting how our perspective on landscape is changing to reflect a symbiotic relationship with nature.

The curatorial approach will look to draw together how perceptions of landscape through the eyes of artists who experience, observe and appreciate landscape and how understanding through observation can lead to different value systems of perceived beauty.

Above all the entwined nature of our relationship to the environment is a philosophy that we wish to celebrate through the marks we make. “You can cut all the flowers, but you can’t keep spring from coming” celebrates the green force that flows through us all, but also recognises the damages that can and have happened when we make the wrong assumptions about nature.

The exhibition is by open call followed by a selection process conducted by our curatorial staff, it will be supported by writing and critical thinking to explore how landscape and our collective wellbeing are a mirror to each other.

The exhibition is an opportunity to exhibit and sell your work in a major central London gallery.
